**NEW** Combustion Controls Technician - (IMMEDIATE OPENING) - Upstate Refractory Services, Inc. is looking for an employee who can perform combustion, controls, and service work at our facility in Newark, NY as well as at various customer locations in Syracuse, Buffalo, Rochester, Albany, PA, and other Northeast locations.  This position requires travel as well as driving our company vehicles - applicant must have a valid and clean driver's license.  All work and projects will take place in an industrial setting, including some work in weather extremes. This person would also be responsible for some computer/office work to put together procedure/operations manuals to accompany installations. There are some times when staying out of town overnight is required.  Qualifications to include:

  • Must have a valid and clean driver’s license
  • HVAC background
  • Background with controls/programming
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Piping experience preferred
  • Electrical background preferred

CNC Programmer/Operator - (IMMEDIATE OPENINGS) - The CNC programmer/operator is responsible for inputting data from customer drawings to program the CNC router to cut and machine shapes per customer requirements. Job qualifications include:

  • Read and interpret drawings
  • CAD Experience is necessary
  • Solidworks, Inventor and/or Bobwire knowledge a plus
  • G Code Experience
  • Working with a flatbed router
  • Working with Hotwire EDM
  • Knowledge of V Carve
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work accurately in a fast paced environment

Field Refractory Installers - (ongoing applications accepted) - We are seeking candidates with a mechanical aptitude or construction background to work as refractory installers on a crew under the direction of experienced refractory installers at various customer sites in Upstate New York and other locations primarily in the Northeast. Experience to include:

  • Background or aptitude in construction trades (Carpentry, Masonry, Construction, Mechanics, Concrete and Welding) desired
  • Safety Training, OSHA 10 Preferred
  • Refractory Experience Preferred
  • Willing to be part of a team

We are looking for laborers with previous experience, including vocational training or 2 year technical programs focusing on construction trades.  Some travel is required for this position with compensation for travel and expenses.

Refractory Installers - (ongoing application accepted) - We are seeking candidates with mechanical aptitude and/or construction background to work in our production facility in Newark, NY.  Experience to include:

  • Background in construction trades (carpentry, masonry, construction, mechanics, welding, concrete) desired
  • Safety training (OSHA 10 preferred)
  • Refractory experience preferred
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to learn and retain new skills and knowledge
  • Willing to be part of a team

We are looking for laborers with previous experience, including vocational training or 2 year technical programs focusing on construction trades to be leaders in our production facility.  

Fabricator/Welder - (ongoing applications accepted) - We are seeking a Fabricator/Welder who can carry out instructions on a work order, with attention to detail, to fabricate and fulfill customer orders.  Experience to include:

  • Mig and stick welding, tig welding
  • Ability to read drawings and fabricate based on the noted specifications
  • Ability to operate basic job related tools (punch, saw, rolls, etc.)
  • Structural experience preferred
  • Attention to detail
  • Willing to learn
  • Some job related refractory work
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Occasional work at customer location
  • Painting experience preferred

Education Requirement: HS Diploma or equivalent, minimum 2 years fabrication/welding experience, vocational/certificate program training
